Sunday is the busiest day for the Mayor, with the Mayors civic lunch; tour of the stalls and prize giving at the horticultural show just a few of the activities to fill the day.

The Lambeth Horticultural Society hosts a Horticultural show and competition each year at the Lambeth Country Show.

My first job of the day was to tour the entries and then hand prizes to the winners before heading back for the Mayors Civic Lunch.

At the lunch was a wide variety of guests which included community representatives, local councillors and representatives from the Church, Police, Fire Brigade and the Army.

There was entertaintment from a local group of talented young women who performed for guests.
I toured the show meeting many of the stall holders, many of whom have been coming to the Lambeth Country Show for many years.

Whilst on the tour the Mayoress and I had a go on the popular miniature train.

We popped by the Lambeth Life tent and couldn’t resist our chance to be on the front page.

Later it was back to the Horticultural tent to give prizes to the Lambeth Schools wheelbarrow competition.

It was a long day and both the Mayoress and I were exhausted, but also hugely enjoyable and a delight to meet all the dedicated people who make it happen.
