The Caribbean Hindu Cultural Society is one of the oldest Hindu Societies in the U.K. On Tuesday 28 October the Deputy Mayoress and joined them for a Diwali Celebration.
We were welcomed by the President of the Association who introduced the festival which was a mixture of prayer, readings, song and dance. His Excellency Laleshwar KN Singh, The High Commissioner for Guyana in the United Kingdom gave a Diwali Message. I followed thanking the society for making me welcome and congratulating the dancers who had entertained us.
After a colourful evening we shared a very tasty curry and were given sweets to take home. We saw some of the work the society are doing to improve their building – with the work done by volunteers.
